Gingerella a été décrit comme « le secret le mieux gardé » de Londres (mais ne vous attendez pas à ce que cela dure longtemps) ». Quatre jeunes et fiers garçons, musicalement talentueux et visuellement intéressants, tant sur scène qu’en dehors. Musicalement, pas de nostalgie : il suffit de regarder leur public, à peine sorti du lycée et enthousiaste à l’égard d’un groupe qui met brillamment en parallèle de nombreux éléments du passé pour créer quelque chose de frais et d’excitant.

Les quatre chansons de cet EP ont été écrites avec un soin particulier pour les paroles, ce qui explique sa durée totale, qui dépasse les 20 minutes. Les chansons sont des mini-satires sociales profondément enracinées dans la culture anglaise. Avec « Stacey’s World », « When Sunday Comes », « Miss Twenny Something » et « Fanclub » (la seule reprise de l’EP), le groupe démontre l’étendue de son talent et sa capacité à écrire des mini-hymnes modernes et percutants. Parfois, il faut lire sur un groupe, parfois il faut simplement l’écouter. C’est le cas de Gingerella.

Musically, no nostalgia: just look at their audience, barely out of school and enthusiastic about a band that brilliantly parallels many things from the past to create something fresh and exciting.

The songs are mini social satires deeply rooted in English culture.
